Great Britain Lapbook

  • Here is a lapbook that my daughter and I made for Nicole, aged 6 (Burkina Faso). I still need to add a few more printable activities but it's more or less finished.

  • wow!  You got a lot of stuff crammed into that pocket!  :-)

    Very nice.

  • That is really neat!  Nicole will love it.

  • That's a wonderful lapbook! :)

  • She's going to really love that.....  I should do a Memphis one.

Someday I want to go to Great Britain and ride a double decker bus.  (or whatever you call them!)   But I want to be on top.... :o)

  • I love this! Lindsay, you always think of the cutest stuff!

@ Michelle - We have some old double-deckers from the UK here in San Diego that are used for transporting people to the fairgrounds in the summer. Maybe these ones are just really old or the drivers were driving reckless but I found them scary to ride in haha 0_0

    Hi Michelle,

We don't have that many double Decker buses anymore, the majority of our buses are single deck now. But if you do ever come to Great Britain remember to drop by me, so we can met in person.

  • Man, that proves that what you see on tv isn't REAL....  (insert crying smiley)   Why did they stop using them?  PLEASE tell me that you still have the awesome red phone booths????

Jo, I would Love to meet you in person!   Not sure if I'll ever make it out of the country (finances) but maybe it will happen..... and I'd love to "drop by you!"   Do you still drink tea????  (I don't drink coffee..... would love to experience English tea and whatever a crumpet is!!!)    :o)

  • Wow, I love it! And I'm sure Nicole will too;)

No we don't have the red phone booths anymore either, you might find them in very old country towns, but even that is not often anymore.

Yes we do drink tea (I don't drink coffee either), and yes we have crumpets and they are something I really like, so of you do ever make it over here we can certainly drink tea and eat crumpets.

  • Jo - When on earth did this happen!?!?! I was just in England in 2009 and the red phone booths were all over, I saw several in London and a few in the other places I visited. And I even rode on a double decker bus. Admittedly it was the only double decker bus I saw the entire trip. But the red phone booths were abundant. Did they just completely wipe them out in the last 3 years?

  • And even saw a white one in Hull!

  • Most red boxes have been replaced by boring BT boxes but there are still some red phone booths in London - and lots of double decker buses, although the the old red ones have been retired. Here is a photo  taken in London in August this year showing  a double decker, Big Ben and a very overcast sky!:

  • What does BT stand for?  we pretty much don't have pay phones in the US anymore....everybody has a cell phone...

  • Well I am glad they keep the red telephone booths for the tourists, lol! They are so iconic and beautiful!
